Aside from that, they must also be complementary to the bike¡¯s design, style, color, sound or its totality.

If you are already in possession of your desired motorcycle exhaust, be sure to coat it with Blue-Shield, Dyno Kote or other compatible products in order to preclude the exhaust from turning blue. However, if you already have good heat shields in your system, these may not be necessary. However, it is still better to exert every effort to keep your system well-maintained, shiny and fresh-looking.

If your exhaust system has transformed from chrome to bluish black, use blue-away, blue-buster and other suitable product depending on your bike¡¯s brand. Apply it with a little elbow grease to achieve best results.

Motorcycle Tire Tips

Motorcycle Tire Tips
by: Maricon Williams

Motorcycle tires are oftentimes misunderstood. This is a saddening fact. They must be well-taken care of because they affect comfort, safety, handling as well as the entire ride.

We riders must be aware of the two types of tire construction - the bias-ply and the radial. Cruisers, usually use bias-ply tires. On the other hand, sport bikes use radials. Bias-ply has a round profile and high sidewalls while a radial tire has a flatter profile and shorter sidewalls.

In bias-ply, the carcass is made up of overlapping layers of nylon or rayon cords. The flexing action generates heat to result to a good grip. The disadvantage though of this construction is that it decreases performance and accelerates tire wear when too much heat is generated. Radial tire construction, however, got its name because its plies are running at a 90-degree angle. As oppose to the bias-ply, this construction reduces heat generation. As a result, tires are cooler. The adverse effect though is that the sidewalls are easily flexed. Thus, the sidewalls are given a shorter profile. Tire pressure really matters to the tires. Therefore, it has to be checked regularly.

Breaking the Habit about Motorcycle Brakes

Breaking the Habit about Motorcycle Brakes
by: Maricon Williams

When you perceive that a fatal collision is about to happen and you think you have no one to turn to, don¡¯t fret, you still got the best remedy with you - the brakes. Motorcycle brakes can be every rider¡¯s saving grace

Perhaps, we can greatly appreciate the immense advantage of motorcycle brakes the moment we are faced with our most risky, nerve-racking and supposed-to-be dreadful ride. This is the reason why we have to maintain it well. Another, we must be certain that it will not keep us hanging or worst frustrated. It can turn out to be our last feasible resort - no second chances because what we can be battling in the situation that we may be in is our loved one¡¯s life or our very life.

Every brake¡¯s part must be diligently examined so as to preclude any untoward incident in the future. We also have to consider the brakes¡¯ good wear characteristics, kind - whether OEM or that of an aftermarket motorcycle parts, its price and of course its function and performance.

When to Buy Aftermarket Motorcycle Parts

When to Buy Aftermarket Motorcycle Parts
by: Maricon Williams

How do we know when to buy aftermarket motorcycle parts and when not to?

This is a hard question. But to boot, we are the ones who will decide when shopping for motorcycle parts. Thus, we must know how to choose cleverly. We have to do it after evaluating each of the possibilities available. The rule of thumb though is this, if you are looking for a replacement or improvement part, you consider the availability of the motorcycle parts, second is your budget and other aspects about the purchase. Some riders are confused and perplexed in deciding whether to buy OEM or aftermarket motorcycle parts.

First, we have to know the difference between the two. Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) parts do not necessarily mean Original Manufacturer (OM) parts. Riders might have noticed that many motorcycle manufacturers do not manufacture every part of their motorcycle. They usually have the motorcycle parts designed and manufactured by other independent companies. However, these motorcycle manufacturers install them in their machines or put them in their own packaging to be sold as OEM motorcycle parts. Aftermarket motorcycle parts on the other hand, are replacement parts that can perform as well as OEM parts. In addition, they can be of equal, higher or lesser quality with OEM parts. They are produced by companies other than the original manufacturer.

Thrilling New Bike Look
by: Maricon Williams

There are times when we get bored with the usual things. Thus, we think of changing, reinventing and planning something new.

This is also true with the bike¡¯s form and appearance. Change is constant and it is inevitable. Everything changes even our choices. The things that we think may last be able to be truthful at once but now - not anymore. Our world, our time is peppered with people¡¯s changing choices and fascinations. These fascinations have resulted to consequences ranging from dire to total awe.

I have made up my mind to give my bike Harley-Davidson Fat Boy FLSTF a new look. I have decided to use aftermarket motorcycle parts for a change. First, I wanted to customize my bike because it been quite a while since I purchased my bike but up to now I haven¡¯t given it a new look. I wanted something new and with that note I wanted to get it from aftermarket parts. With these parts I have saved a great sum. Ever since, I am using OEM parts however, they are fix and sometimes dull so I go for something flashy and trendy where you can decide and design wildly without limiting your options to a few.

Auto Transport Is Easy And Safe
by: Christopher M. Luck

There are a variety of reasons why you may have to may have to use an auto transport service to ship your car or truck, van or SUV, when driving it from place to place just isn¡¯t practical or possible. Lucky, there are likewise a variety of ways which you can go about doing the transporting, based on your budget, or the urgency with which you need your car to arrive.

If you currently own a car and are in the process of moving, the most annoying thing to have to consider is how you¡¯ll get your vehicle or vehicles from your current residence to your next one. You may be moving a great distance, or even overseas, and yet you don¡¯t have the opportunity or time to move your car by yourself. Of course, you need your car at your new home, and you need it there as soon as possible, so you¡¯ll have to consult an automobile transporter to ship your car from A to B. Most transport companies, whether they ship your car by train or by truck, have fully computerized shipping services, so that you can track the status and position of your car in transit, just in case you¡¯re the worrying type.

Auto Towing Need Not Be A Nightmare
by: Christopher M. Luck

All but the very luckiest of souls has, at some point, had their car towed away from them in the wake of malfunction from an automotive towing company, or worse, come out to the place it had once been parked only to find some phantom tow truck had grabbed hold of their prized possession and quickly spirited it away. The latter case is always most infuriating, though having to call an towing company is never anyone¡¯s idea of a ripping good time in itself. Either way, without traffic enforcement bylaws and tow trucks we probably wouldn¡¯t recognize the world we live in, so it¡¯s time to accept their existence, and know a few things about them that can help you in case you have to cross their path.

Avoid Playing Auto Financing Poker

Avoid Playing Auto Financing Poker
by: Daniel DeHaven

Finance departments are where dealers make most of their profit (well, financing and after-market products).

Their profit lies on something called the ¡°Finance Reserve.¡± That is the difference between the interest rate the dealer is offering you and the lower interest rate (called the ¡°buy rate¡±) the bank offers the dealer.

For example, lets say you have a credit score of 700. The finance manager offers you a conventional loan through Generic Bank at, say, 6.9%.

But what you don¡¯t know, as you sit there negotiating, is that the dealer already has a standing arrangement with the bank that says that any buyer with a credit score of 700 can have a loan at 4.9%. If you go for the 6.9%, the dealer keeps the other 2%. That¡¯s the ¡°Finance Reserve.¡± For the dealer, it¡¯s just gravy. Cash in his pocket.

Most banks cap a dealer at 3% over the ¡°buy rate,¡± but not all do. According to our latest reports, Ford Motor Credit, for example, has no cap on the dealer mark up. That means you could pay anywhere from 1% to 10% more than what you actually qualify for.

Beware of Hurricane Damaged Vehicles!
by: Matthew C. Keegan

Nearly a half million cars were destroyed by two of this past season¡¯s biggest hurricanes, Katrina and Rita. Some of these cars may not have received much apparent damage but they were totaled nevertheless because of water, mud, and debris which flooded engine bays and the interior. Damaged cars are supposed to make their way to the junkyard for scrap, unfortunately some unscrupulous parties are gaining a hold of the vehicle titles and turning around and selling damaged cars to the public. Should you be concerned? Absolutely! Read on to learn more about this problem and what you can do to avoid being stuck with a vehicle that is certain to be a lemon.

Let me just say this: it is not illegal for weekend mechanics to buy a salvaged vehicle, repair it, and sell it to you. What they must disclose to you is this: you are buying a salvaged vehicle. This is where most of the problems begin: the dishonest purveyors are not sharing this information.
