A Guide To Saving Gas With Your Vehicle
 by: Andrew Bernhardt

Super-expensive gas is here to stay. Drivers are in a scramble over how to afford their morning commute. They’re resorting to a number of solutions, some the result of fuel economy technology in the form of hybrid vehicles, others steering for quick-fix gadgets carrying a high price tag and dubious claims.

Don’t downgrade from your favorite ride into a sub-compact clown car! Stay away from fuel saving gimmicks, too. There are simple ways to save gas, increase gas mileage and stick it back to the greedy barons stealing your spending cash.

Improving Air Flow

A great place to start when looking to increase gas mileage is with your vehicle’s air filter. It is by far the easiest performance upgrade around, and the quickest way to increase gas mileage.

If you’re still lugging around town with a disposable paper air filter, you must toss it in favor of a performance air filter. A disposable paper air filter is incredibly restrictive to airflow, a restriction which essentially chokes your engine. Compare this to a performance air filter which uses either cotton or foam filtration material. Air flows much easier through these performance air filter materials which puts plenty of oxygen into your engine for burning fuel. With the extra air on hand, your engine’s computer responds by using less fuel per air part.

Motorcycle Batteries
 by: Angela Oliver

Motorcycle batteries vary by brand. Choosing motorcycle batteries involves several important factors. You need to know a good bit about your bike in order to purchase a motorcycle battery.

Motorcycle batteries vary by engine size on any particular motorcycle. Motorcycle engines range in size and are measure by cc. A small engine could be a 260cc for example, where as a larger engine size can be 1200cc. The higher the number, the more powerful the engine.

Motorcycle batteries are specifically designed for specific brands. If you drive a BMW motorcycle, you will purchase a different motorcycle battery that if you drove a Harley-Davidson.

Motorcycle batteries can be purchased in several different ways. Standard type is a “spillable” battery that requires dry shipment. The acid must be purchased locally in order to activate the battery. The acid is called electrolyte, which is sulfuric acid, diluted by water. This must be added only to a dry shipped battery. Normally, acid is not needed to be added to a battery. Once a battery is purchased, only approved water should be added.

Necessity of Motorcycle Parts

December 21, 2007

If you are one of the many people who consider your bike as invaluable as your family, then we know you’re head over heels. We may be judged heavily for this perception but you might even be willing to dump your partner just so you could spend time riding and caring for your bike? though, we hope you are not that obsessed.

Of course, once you’ve discovered the thrill and speed of the open road, there’s really nothing quite alike the exuberance you felt. Eventually, it will not only be a way to travel for you, it becomes a way of life. Many other motorcycle enthusiasts discover these at certain stages after acquiring their motorcycles. You find these dedicated enthusiasts like yourself all over the country.

It’s no surprise to know that you would also demand nothing but the best motorcycle parts for your bike. Getting the right motorcycle parts is not only a matter of vanity or style. Necessity is the most important consideration. Once you do not have sturdy replacements for important parts and even accessories like worn brakes, cracked windshield, bent kickstand, you’re in trouble. All the more worse if your local parts store has no replacement parts available. Most motorcycle parts should be found not to make your bike look nice and sleek. You simply can’t afford to be without these motorcycle parts which are equal to that of our limbs and joints.

Built in the United States, Canada, and China by the General Motors Corporation, the Buick is a brand of vehicles that are sold in North America, China, Taiwan, and Israel. This brand originated as an independent motor car manufacturer, the Buick Motor Company, however was taken over by James Whiting in 1904 when the company was struggling. Soon after that, the brand soon became one of the largest car manufacturers in America. Come 1929, the Buick brand then launched the Marquette that was specifically designed to help bridge the price gap between the Buick and the Oldsmobile. The Buick is more often than not targeted towards customers who are comfortably well off, who are possibly not quite rich enough to be able to afford a Cadillac, but definitely in the market for a car that is cut above the norm.

The emblem of this vehicle brand consists of three shields, each of these is bisected diagonally to the right by a straight line. The shields are arranged touching each other in a left-diagonal pattern inside a circle. The colors are strategically designed. The leftmost shield is red, the middle shield is white, and the rightmost shield is colored blue, although the white color is sometimes represented by light gray. This is more commonly known as the Trishield, which was adopted in 1959.

What the Heck Are Polymers and Do I Want Them on My Car?
 by: Gregg Hall

When shopping for car care products for your vehicle’s finish you will often see the term “polymers” included in many car waxes

and other finish products. Many people have no idea what this is, so here’s description for you. Polymer actually means many units,

basically any chemical that is comprised of constantly repeating identical chemical units.

Included in this group of chemical car care products are such materials as polyurethane, polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE), and polyisocyanate.

So, for example poly-ethylene would be many units of ethylene. The term “polymer” is thrown around in the car care product industry to the point

of being abusive, so take care and read what the ingredients actually are.

The existence of polymers in a car care product can increase the quality of automobile finish products. One of the important criteria that makes

polymers better than waxes or silicones is the chemical reaction called “cross linking”, which means that each of these long chain polymers must

be able to connect together. By cross linking, the polymer creates a shield over the painted surface.

Cadillac Means Quality
 by: Joe Thompson

Part of the General Motors Corporation, and produced and mostly sold in the United States, the Cadillac is a brand of luxury automobiles. And in the United States, this brand name of luxury automobiles has become a synonym for “high quality”. Certainly, because of this, it has been used in certain lingo and phrases like “the Cadillac of clocks”. Cadillac was formed from the Henry Ford Company, and the automobile was named after the 17th century French explorer Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac, who was the founder of Detroit, Michigan in 1701.

One of the vehicles running under the Cadillac name is the Cadillac Escalade. This vehicle is a luxury spin-off of the large Chevrolet/GMC SUVs, and is made available in three trim levels - the base SUV wagon, the longer Escalade ESV wagon, and the Escalade EXT pickup truck. The first two versions are sport utility vehicle wagons that has three rows of seats and can take in a capacity of seven passengers. The Cadillac Escalade EXT, on the other hand is a crew-cab pickup truck that has four doors. It is similar to the Chevrolet Avalanche, has a “midgate” wall between the cab and the cargo bed.

Check that the documents all tallies with the car. Be sure that the person selling the car does actually own it and always see it at the seller’s own home or business premises.

Unspoken Rules Of The Road For Truckers

Unspoken Rules Of The Road For Truckers
 by: Mike Dobson

Many truckers seem like they belong to a secret society and part of that membership consists of various courtesies and unspoken rules of the road. Trucking companies are privy to those rules, but don’t always let the newbies know about them. Those new truck drivers get to learn the hard way. But if they are lucky, veteran truckers will give them a probationary pass to the secret society. Membership has its privileges!

Unspoken Rule #1 - Acknowledging other truckers in this secret society. Common courtesy on the roads is a little thing, but can pay off big if you are ever in the need of some assistance. CB radios are often used to recognize other truckers and even a friendly wave does the trick.

Unspoken Rule #2 - Passing the pavement. Sometimes on busy roads, truckers may not be able to keep an eye on all of the traffic around them. Fellow truckers traveling in other lanes will often flash their lights or make contact by CB radio to tell another truck when they have safely passed another vehicle and it is all right to switch lanes.
