How to Help Prevent Your Car From Being Stolen
 by: Steven Anderson

Has this ever happened to you? You’re ready to leave, grab your things, lock your house and go to your car. It’s GONE! Someone stole it! Panic, frustration, rage, fear, helplessness all crash into your brain at one time. What did you do wrong, why did this happen to you?

Well, unfortunately, it seems that in the United States, a vehicle is stolen approximately every 30 seconds. That’s 120 cars an hour or 2,880 cars in a single day. Not a comforting statistic. Recovery statistics are just as bleak, around 50% recovered successfully. What does recovered successfully mean? No major damage to the vehicle when it’s found. Unsuccessfully recovered means the police found your car, but it’s been stripped and basically is nothing but a shell.

It is completely up to the vehicle owner to take steps to prevent auto theft. There is a wide range of products to help prevent car theft, with just as wide a range of cost. However, as an owner, there are steps, some simple, and some complex that you can take to help keep you from being part of the above statistics. Let’s start with the simple steps.

Hybrid Cars - Technology Of The Future Or Passing Fad?

Hybrid Cars - Technology Of The Future Or Passing Fad?
 by: Rick Hendershot

Hybrid cars have been getting a lot of buzz the last three or four years, and now with the soaring cost of oil and gasoline, hybrids are expected to get hotter than ever. Here are some Questions and Answers about hybrids.

1. What is a hybrid car?

A vehicle is a hybrid when it combines two or more sources of power. Hybrid cars almost always have a gasoline engine and an auxiliary electric motor system that runs off rechargeable batteries.

We normally assume that the point of hybridization is to save fuel, and that is definitely the case with most of the smaller compacts and sedans. But in fact some of the more upscale hybrid models are more concerned with boosting power and “performance” without the usual loss in fuel efficiency.

2. Do you have to plug your hybrid in at night?

You may assume because a hybrid car runs part of the time off its battery pack, that it is necessary to plug it in at night and recharge the batteries (like a golf cart!). But this is almost never the case. Hybrid cars recharge their batteries “on the fly” by making use of unused energy which is normally wasted during normal driving.

Car Accidents Claims And Insurance
 by: Daniel Richards

If you are not sure of your rights in a car accident that you have experienced, you must consult the best lawyer possible. You can rest assured that the insurance company will have lawyers to represent them.

Your claim is very important and you should not take it for granted especially if you have encountered a serious injury in a car accident. Claims vary differently depending on the type of injuries sustained. Severe injuries include: losing an arm, fractured bones or losing any part of the body.

If you have been hospitalized for a long period of time, you are entitled to a higher compensation. If you are unable to work because of disabilities you may be eligible for a lifelong compensation. The compensation of disabled person will include the beneficiaries of the victim. He will also get the income he earns in a year.

Sometimes, being handicapped allows for the full compensation in filing for a claim. In order to get the compensation, you must choose the best lawyer who will not take advantage of you and your rights as a victim. Sometimes, the law takes advantage of the disabled person and of those who are not aware of the rules.

Driving Essentials :: Tips For Driving In The Fog
 by: Edwin Shackleford

Golf is a game one can learn in no time. One way to become good in this game is to have enough determination and patience, and knowing which club to use and how to putt properly. This activity is very affordable and should that person want to get serious at it, one can easily join some tournaments then perhaps proceed on to the big leagues.

People who want to start playing the game will easily get the hang of it by just watching how others swing and putt the ball into the holes. The first thing that one needs is some equipment such as the different types of clubs, the proper shoes and the ball.

The most expensive thing that a person has to use money on are the clubs. The price depends on the brand the person wants to buy but since one is just a beginner, that is the least of the worries. If that person isn’t sure yet whether to invest in brand new equipment, then that person can either borrow from the club which rents this out to players or buy one that is second hand.

Is My Old Car Undependable? - The Myth of Being “Nickel-and-Dimed to Death”
 by: Sandin Phillipson

“You need to get a new, dependable car before your old car nickels and dimes you to death!” This is the phrase that is commonly used to justify a major outlay of cash, usually in combination with entering into a long-term financial commitment. But is it really necessary? With costs of “regular” vehicles running from $20,000-$30,000, many find only too late that they have overextended themselves simply by bending to the conventional wisdom that new automatically equates to better. This decision may also be influenced by immense societal pressures that suggest only “losers” would drive an old car because they are unable to afford a new one.

Practical experience suggests something very different. I have driven old vehicles my entire life, and have compiled the vehicle cost data on spreadsheets. These data, including the mileage at which repairs were required, the type and cost of repairs, and the average cost per mile, month and year indicate that an old car is actually far cheaper and more economical to drive than purchasing a new car. Of course it must be stressed that regular vehicle maintenance is the key to longevity, and thus the spreadsheet can also serve as a log of required maintenance intervals. There also appear to be some models that are more capable of accumulating less troublesome, high miles.

Motorcycle Accidents: Preparing Your Case

Motorcycle accident is an unexpected occurrence that results to shock and trauma, serious physical injuries and death. The most common reason of a motorcycle accident, which contributed to the 50% of the motorcycle vehicle, is due to the failure of another motorist to see the motorcycle. What To Know If You Are In The Market For A New Car
 by: John Rivers

If you are in the midst of shopping for a new car then you need to know what you are doing. If you don’t take the time to learn the ins and outs of buying a new car you are going to get taken for a ride, an expensive one.

Here are the top tips to make sure that you get a deal on your new car:

Find out what kind of car you are looking for

If you walk onto the lots with a clear idea of what you are looking for, you will be much less likely to get talked into a more expensive car. All of the car salesmen are going to be trying to get you to spend as much money as possible, that is what makes them the big bucks so keep that in mind. Know what you want and go for it and that is all. Don’t look around and let yourself get too tempted by other cars or vans that you know you cannot afford.

The 1969 Plymouth Road Runner

The 1969 Plymouth Road Runner
 by: Jason Tarasi

The Road Runner line was first produced by Plymouth in 1968 with a back-to-basics strategic approach aimed at making muscle cars more affordable for the average Joe rather than having them remain fully-loaded, luxury cars that few could afford. As a result, Road Runners were targeted to a different market. Even though they were downgraded some compared to other muscle cars of their time, the 1969 Plymouth Road Runner made record sales for Plymouth and became one of the top-five muscle cars in existence in terms of best sellers.

If I had to describe Plymouth’s 1968 release of the Road Runner in one word, that word would be - unique. In fact, the ‘68 model was incredibly unique because its body design was based on the luxury Belvedere with a pillared coupe style. It actually sported a cartoon character - Warner Brother’s road runner - as décor and a “cute” beeping horn that complemented the unusual, but popular image.

Reviving the Blackwood

Reviving the Blackwood
 by: Carol Mitchel

This vehicle was sold in 2002 only. In fact, it is one of the most short-lived vehicles in the automobile industry. The Lincoln Blackwood is a luxury pickup truck that has been manufactured and introduced under the Ford Motor Company’s Lincoln brand. And all due to its short lifespan, this vehicle has been known and considered as one of the most spectacular failures in the automotive industry.

In its history the Lincoln Blackwood has been considered as another version of the Ford F-150 Crew Cab pickup truck. The difference, though, between the two is that the Lincoln Blackwood is trimmed and accessorized with luxury. During its one year lifespan, the Lincoln Blackwood was made available with a black exterior and a black interior. The bed of the truck was made over to serve as a trunk. This was done so by adding in a power tonneau and plush carpeting. As per the exterior of the truck bed, it featured aluminum pinstripes over artificial burled black wood.
