Warm Up Your Car In Winter
 by: Marilyn Pokorney

Common questions in the winter. Should I warm up the car

before driving? And for how long?

If you use your car infrequently let the car run for a few

minutes before moving. This warms up the cold, thick oil

and protects your engine from damage.

When starting a vehicle in cold weather allow the engine to

idle for no more than 30 seconds before driving off to

insure proper oil flow and lubrication. Older vehicles may

need a little longer warming up time. Only warm long enough

to prevent stalling when driving and that the windshield is

defogged.

A cold engine will warm up faster when the vehicle is being

driven than when idling. In unusually cold temperatures

drive at a slower speed for a few miles to give the car time

to warm up.

Use a block heater when the winter temperature drops to -5°F

or below. A block heater helps to keep oil and coolant warm,

Diesel Powered Cars: Coming At You!

Diesel Powered Cars: Coming At You!
 by: Matthew C. Keegan

The number of diesel powered cars on North American highways has been dropping steadily ever since their peak in the mid 1980s. For many motorists, diesel engines conjure up images of pollution, poor power, and unreliability. However, one generation later and all that is about to change. New diesel powered vehicles will soon be arriving, in fact one is already here and receiving critical acclaim from auto enthusiasts.

Who can forget those diesel powered Chevrolet Caprices and Oldsmobile 98s that suddenly became very popular 25 years ago? If you are like many car owners, you want to forget those cars. What GM did back then was to take existing gasoline engines and convert them to diesel engines. These converted engines were loud, smoky, and very unreliable. They were unreliable to the point where GM had to pay tens of millions of dollars to replace failed engines with gasoline engines.

The memory of GM’s diesel fiasco was never lost on drivers who have spurned diesels to the point where many automakers are no longer producing diesel engines. Mercedes, a strong seller of diesel powered cars in Europe, no longer sells a diesel powered car in North America. VW is the lone importer of diesel engines while the U.S. manufacturers only place high performance diesel engines in their larger vehicles such as pick up trucks.

Quick Guide To Comparing Dealerships
 by: Chris Contessa

Buying an automobile is a big step for many individuals and those who are looking to purchase or lease a car may wonder what things to look for in a car dealership. As each car dealership has their own traits and attributes, there are a few factors one should consider in order to help them choose the best dealership to do business with for the automobile transaction.

Type of Automobile One Is Looking For

The first thing one must do prior to selecting a car dealership is to narrow down the options by deciding what type of car they wish to purchase. When the individual decides on a particular make of car, they can prepare a list of car dealerships in the area which sell or lease those types of automobiles. Doing this will save time and make the purchase of a new car much easier.

Purchase and Lease Options

Another factor one should consider when comparing dealerships is whether the dealership offers both purchase and lease options. If an individual knows for certain that they wish to lease an automobile, they should look for those dealerships that lease their automobiles to individuals as not all dealerships may offer lease options.

Lemon Law - How To Make A Lemonade From Your Sour Experience
 by: Amit Laufer

Lemon Law Background

The term “Lemon-Law” is a nick name derived from other common terms such as “Lemon-Car”, “Monday-cars” and “Friday-Cars”.

A lemon car is a defective car that, when purchased new or used, is found by the purchaser to have numerous or severe defects not readily apparent before the purchase. Any vehicle with these issues can be termed a “lemon car” and by extension, any product which has major flaws that render it unfit for its purpose can be described as a “lemon product”.

New vehicles directly from the factory may contain hidden mechanical flaws or defects in workmanship, usually caused by an error during the build process of the car. These errors can range from parts being installed incorrectly, a tool that was used to build the car not being removed, a batch of materials with structural or chemical flaws or simply bad design. Usually, a car is labeled a lemon if the same problem occurs 3 times in a row over a short period, and previous attempts at repair have not repaired the problem. In most cases, if you get a lemon, lemon laws will make the company buy back the car or exchange it.

Audi TT: Offering Driving Pleasure
 by: Jennifer Dylan

Introduced in 1995, the Audi TT was still a concept car that time. After three years, the Audi TT came rolling off the manufacturing and assembly lines to the streets. This new vehicle then held the Audi A4’s shorter version of its platform. This vehicle was manufactured as a front drive coupe and as a roadster. It also was sold and offered with a Quattro all wheel drive.

The Audi TT has a unique style and design that makes it stand out from the rest. It has a roofline that quite resembles the Volkswagen’s new Beetle. In 2000, this vehicle received a nomination for the North American Car of the Year award. That same year and the following year, the Audi TT also made its way to the Car and Driver magazine’s ten best cars list.

 by: Jenny McLane

Made available in three trim levels that ranges from the CX to the CXS, the Buick LaCrosse sports four doors and has the capacity to take in a maximum of six passengers in its cabin. It is a luxury sedan from Buick. Upon its introduction, this sedan holds a 3.8 liter V6 engine as standard. This can take up to 20 mpg during city driving and some 30 mpg while on the highway. The Buick LaCrosse is known and marketed in Canada as the Buick Allure. This vehicle has actually replaced two Buick cars in the market which were the Buick Century and the Buick Regal.

Buick has created and crafted the Buick LaCrosse so as to bridge the gap between the old generation and the newer and younger generation. This is specifically due to the facts that most owners of Buicks were of the older generations with the average age around 68 years old. With the Buick LaCrosse, the company intends to also target a lower age bracket. This is due to this sedan’s newer, fresher, and younger design and features. This vehicle has curvaceous lines that seem to converge.
