Motorcycle Helmets - Mind Your Head!
August 14, 2007
To most riders, motorcycle helmets do not fit into their dream accessory. They feel helmets are restrictive and unnecessary and do not add to their aesthetic appeal. But it is important to know why you need to wear a helmet while riding a bike and what it does for you.
Motorcycle helmets act as a protection device for your head. Nearly all motor crashes in which riders do not wear helmets, result in major head injuries. To drive this point further, according to a survey done in the state of California, in 900 crashes, there were 980 head and neck injuries. The major factor was that most riders were not wearing proper headgear.
Canada has made it a mandatory rule for motorbike riders to wear helmets after seeing the way people die in these accidents. But in the USA, in some states, it still remains a choice for the rider ? so it is for you to decide what is more precious to you.
Hopefully, now that you are convinced about purchasing a helmet, let us see some of the things that you should keep in mind while buying a motorcycle helmet.

Car Loans
by: Peter Kenny
Buying a new car is one of the single biggest purchases most people are likely to make in their life. Other than their home and maybe their education, there is not really much personal expenditure that can compare in size to the purchase of a new car. Therefore it is not surprising that most people cannot afford to pay for a car outright. This is so even if they have a very good income. It is a simple fact of life that to buy a new car, most people will need to use a car loan to do so.
If you are considering taking out a car loan to finance the purchase of a new car, then you should make sure you are completely aware of all the financing options that are available to you so that you get the best deal available. It is highly likely that to car dealer that is selling you the car will have some sort of financing options available to you. This may be in the form of a loan to purchase the car or leasing options that are also available. You should be clear of the vital difference between a loan and a leasing arrangement. With a loan, you are borrowing the money so that you can purchase the car. With a lease, you are only paying for the use of the car, and at the end of the leasing period, you simply return the car and that is the end of the arrangement.

Cleaner fuels for Robin Subaru engines
by: Justin Kitson
On 3 March, 2005, the South Africa Cabinet approved cleaner fuels for South Africa. This legislation has been effective 1 January 2006. Traditionally, Robin Subaru petrol engines users have been using leaded fuel. In this article we take a look at unleaded (ULP) and Lead Replacement Petrol (LRP) and the changes needed for Robin Subaru engines to operate effectively with new fuels.
Lead has been used in fuel since the 1920’s. During normal operation of petrol engines, “pinging” or “knocking” takes place. Engine knock takes place when the last part of the air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber detonates uncontrollably - this may damage the engine. In order to prevent “knocking”, petrol requires a certain octane level. The octane rating of fuel is a measure of its resistance to cause knocking. The higher the octane rating, the tendency of knocking will occur. So lead has been added to fuel since 1920, as it was a cost-effective way to boost fuel´s octane rating.

Cheaper Car Loans
by: Peter Kenny
Every time you go to a car dealer to buy a car, whether it be new or used, it is highly likely that the dealer will also have on offer, various financing deals that will assist you in paying for the car. While these may seem extremely attractive, especially if you don’t think you could afford the car outright, you should always check twice to make sure you are not getting ripped off or taken advantage of.
The most important thing to know in these situations where the car dealer is offering you vehicle financing, is that you do not have to take your car loan from the dealer. There are a host of alternative car loan sources that will be willing to lend you the money you need to buy the car, such as banks and other lenders, and if they are reluctant to lend you the money you need, perhaps this is an indication that you cannot afford the car and should look at buying something cheaper or waiting till you have a bit more money saved up to make the purchase.

Dodge Magnum RT 2006 Car Review
by: Andrew Kier
The new Magnum is a great looking car that will get your neighbors talking as you rumble around the block. The unique styling of the Magnum will also attract gawkers in the form of 18-22 year old guys pointing for their friends to “check that out”. And a few people will approach you as you are filling up the gas tank to ask, “Does it really have a Hemi?”, with only a vague notion that it somehow makes the car better.
The Magnum is offered with many different engine sizes (either a 6-cylinder or 8-cylinder) with your choice of horsepower output of 190, 250, 340 and 425. The price of the vehicle also corresponds with the engine size starting at $30,345 to the expensive STR-8 model for $37,320. A big part of the mystique around this car is the Hemi engine. The Hemi is short for hemispherical combustion chamber, which creates more efficient fuel burning and allows larger valves for better airflow. Basically, it produces more power than an engine with its displacement would normally produce. (There are also drawbacks to the Hemi, which is why it isn’t the only engine that Chrysler produces).

Save Money On Young Driver Car Insurance
by: Katy Lassetter
A study recently released has revealed that the average driver in Britain will be involved in a car accident every six and a half years.
When balanced out, that equates to every individual being the victim of nine accidents during their life. It seems a truly staggering statistic, and one that most people are unlikely to walk away from without suffering an injury at some point.
Even if you manage to avoid damaging yourself in all nine accidents, the likelihood is that your car will come off slightly less healthily. And that’s why there’s such a need for proper car insurance cover.
The Government have announced that they want to cut the number of car accidents by 40% by 2010, a big target but one that they feel is achievable. With driving tests becoming stricter, it is the young drivers of Britain who are being tasked with realising the objective; after all, they are the ones who are involved in the most amount of accidents.
But it is not just to satisfy Government targets that young drivers should improve their driving habits, it is for the sake of their own wallets too.

The Case For Gas Scooters - Why You Should Own One
by: Harvey Braswell
Sure gas powered scooters are noisy, a bit smoky, require maintenance and dogs love to chase them. But they can also give your kids an often overlooked advantage when they go out to make it on their own.
It was about a hundred degrees, with no air-conditioning in a control room still under construction in Saudi Arabia. I was in my early 20’s, there to start up a pair of 50MW gas turbines. Laid out in front of me was the internals of a hydraulic ratchet used to keep the hot, turbine shaft rotating when it shut down so it wouldn’t bend as it cooled. This particular timing valve wouldn’t work properly, would take months to get a new one, and we were due to make power in a few weeks. The massive customer manual advised “Not field serviceable. To be disassembled only by factory service technician”.
