2006 Ford Focus: Never Better!
 by: Matthew C. Keegan

Back in 2000, the year that the Ford Focus was introduced, Ford Motor Company was hoping that the model would be well received and exceed the sales totals of its previous small car, the Escort. Unfortunately, the new Focus was plagued by various minor quality problems and the car soon became the joke of the industry. Step forward to 2006, and the current Focus is vastly improved on earlier models. Let’s explore what is helping the Focus become a proven challenger in the crowded small vehicle sector:

1. Aggressive Price. Yes, the number of cars available under US$15,000 continues to drop each year. However, the Focus takes it one step further as it retails just below $14,000. Comparably equipped Chevys, Kias and Hyundais sell for nearly the same amount, so the consumer has a good choice when buying the Ford Focus.

2. Sufficient Power. The 2.0L I4 engine paired to a five speed manual transmission gives the car enough power to get it moving and keep it moving at a nice clip on the freeway. Competing models offer smaller engines as small as 1.6L as found in the Kia Rio.

If you are preparing a case about a defective car door latch; there are a number of steps to better prepare yourself before you contact your lawyer and file a lawsuit. The first thing you need to do when you are injured as the result of a faulty door latch is to record the date, time and all the days events occurring around the injury. 2007 Saturn SKY: The Wait Is Over

2007 Saturn SKY: The Wait Is Over
 by: Matthew C. Keegan

After months of nonstop hype, the 2007 Saturn SKY is now entering dealer showrooms. This two seat roadster marks an important turning point for the Saturn brand long identified with building nondescript, but dependable vehicles. With an MSRP of $23,690, the SKY is certain to sell for several thousand dollars over the dealer’s sticker price as demand is expected to far exceed capacity. Let’s examine the Saturn brand and the car behind the hype to see if the SKY was worth the wait.

Since Saturn’s first cars became available in 1990, the brand has attracted a loyal following of owners who liked the company’s simplicity and consumer friendly dealer network. Indeed, Saturn’s “no haggle” pricing revolutionized the relationship between dealer and customer changing the typical adversarial business transaction into a partnership benefiting buyer and seller alike.

Originally, Saturn was established as a separate company, but wholly owned by General Motors. The idea behind Saturn was that the company would build import fighting small cars to compete against the likes of Toyota and Honda. The S-Series, made with “ding proof” polymer side panels was an immediate hit and Saturn relied exclusively on this line of compact coupes, sedans, and wagons for nearly a decade before a second, larger model was introduced.

Caliber-ated to Replace the Neon
 by: Jenny McLane

The Dodge Caliber actually started out as a concept car during the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. It has been exquisitely designed so as to fill in the void left by most vehicles. It also is marketed towards no particular target area for it is generally meant for the US market as well as the international market.

Remarking on the concept vehicle, Trevor Creed, the Chrysler Group’s senior vice president for design, states, “With its bold styling and clever packaging, Caliber is pure Dodge. This concept is a new slant on one of the world’s most competitive segments. The Dodge Caliber concept brings emotion to the C-segment sea of sameness and strongly hints at the future direction of Dodge in the global car market.”

Get Ready For A Compact BMW
 by: Matthew C. Keegan

Over the years, the entire definition of what is considered a small, medium, or large car has been turned on its side. Some people measure a car’s entire length to determine size, others take into account its wheelbase, while still others give consideration to the vehicle’s interior room. No matter, BMW is planning to import a car to the U.S. that is truly smaller than any BMW that has ever graced American highways: the 1 Series is coming to Americacan you say, “Tiny BMW?”

Like Mercedes, the whole thought of a less than luxurious BMW running around is almost blasphemy. Please don’t think that this hasn’t been lost on Bavarian Motor Works as they study and restudy the issue and decide whether to go ahead with the planned introduction of the 1 Series. Long a producer of vehicles from compacts on up, BMW knows that the U.S. market is fickle and may reject the budget bimmer. Still, as the marketplace continues to adjust and consumer tastes change, the 1 Series is ripe for importing to the U.S. Here is why:

Maybe the thought of owning a car cover sounds a bit ridiculous to you. After all, you typically keep your car garaged, right? Besides, who wants to have an ugly tarp draped over a car anyway? Not you! Car covers serve a purpose even for the person who keeps their vehicle sheltered most of the time. Let’s examine the benefits of owning a car cover and how you can go about selecting one that is right for your car.

Keeps the bird poop at bay If you leave your car outside, there is a nemesis that takes aim at your car…birds! Yes, birds are all right, but their excrement is not. If you don’t wash it off right away, your car’s finish can be damaged. Some bird poop is so damaging that even a buff and wax job won’t completely restore the finish. A car cover will catch the poop before it does permanent damage.

Jaguar XK 140: Filling the Spot Between the 120 and the 150
 by: Michelle Crimson

The Jaguar XK 140 has been produced starting from 1954 up until 1957, thus it has lived for only three years. It is a sports car and it holds two doors. This vehicle model from Jaguar arrived on the scene so as to replace the highly successful Jaguar XK 120. The Jaguar XK 140 actually exuded a much heavier appearance than the Jaguar XK 120. It had a wider front grille as well as substantial bumpers in its front and rear. The Jaguar XK 140 made its way to public knowledge during its debut at the 1954 motor show. It was then considered to be an evolution of the Jaguar XK 120.

Looking at its power source, the Jaguar XK 140 has a more powerful engine than the Jaguar XK 120. The engine of the former is a 190 bhp engine. It also holds a rack and pinion steering plus an optional Special Equipment pack that includes wire wheels as well as more power that is actually some 210 bhp. The production for the Jaguar XK 140 ended after three years starting from its production when the newer Jaguar XK 150 arrived at the scene.
